Art of a Different Color


Webster’s Dictionary defines art as: “the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.” Everyone has a unique opinion of what is aesthetically appealing and what they are attracted to as individuals. In other words (as my dad would say), “there’s an ass for every seat.” I mean, how many times have you visited a corporate or school campus and have seen large obtrusive slabs of metal that look seemingly out of place, and when you ask the significance, usually your reply is “oh, that’s art.” Well, at least someone thought it was!


But then there are the kinds of art that can amaze you, move you and give you a sense of appreciation for the artist and their work. This can be anything from freshly painted eyeliner on a beautiful woman to a stunning painting at a gallery. I stumbled upon an artist that shocked me with his work, and whether you love it or now, I’m sure that you can appreciate the skill and time put into his masterpieces. His name is Juan Francisco Casas and he is a Spanish artist with amazing skill, attention to detail and an even better gimic.
