Game of Thrones Destroys Your Blogpost

I’ve been an avid watcher of HBO’s Game of Thrones since its 2011 airing. It has violence, girls, castles, and dragons–all in a great way. And since I rarely watch TV, a show must be exceptional to grab my attention.

Some of my friends are even bigger Game of Thrones fans, and they’ve been encouraging me to read the books that the show is based on. The books are supposedly even more exciting with even more violence, girls, castles, etc. But months later I have still not picked up the first book. I’m sure I’d enjoy them, as my friends and experience with the show have displayed, but still, nada.

Now compare all the reasons I have to read Game of Thrones with the majority of the web’s content which is also competing for my attention but lacks compelling reasons for me to care. Unless that blogpost, video, tweet, etc. is significantly relevant, useful, or recommended, I’m not going to bother. There’s so much good Internet stuff out there, so why waste my time on mediocrity?

However you choose to grab users’ attention, best of luck. But please avoid
-Writing that is sensationally time-sensitive. “10 Business Tips You Must Follow Immediately” may attract a few initial eyeballs, but will ultimately group you with the shrieking web buffoons who just create noise.
-Excessive use of exclamation marks. You don’t want to sound like a 4th-grade girl at a Taylor Swift show!
