Zappos has built an incredibly strong brand and a huge following. In fact, the Zappos brand has become so successful that they even started a consulting business for entrepreneurs (
http://www.zapposinsights.com). Robert Scoble, from Scoblerizer.com recently went on a tour of their corporate offices in Las Vegas (
http://scobleizer.com/2009/04/23/learn-from-zappos/). What he discovered is that everything Zappos does, from the way everyone greets and helps visitors to the open door policy of all their executives is an extension of thier brand. Their culture is welcoming, the environment fosters creativity and their employees love the company they work for. In fact, Zappos offers $2000 to employees who complete training to leave, hoping to weed out those who aren’t dedicated and a good fit for the Zappos culture. Very few candidates accept the money to leave. Even more interesting, which I bet many top-level executives couldn’t handle–everyone lives by the same rules! Read Scoble’s entire piece for a great look into Zappos.
