Pinterest adds Pin It buttons to more platforms

Pinterest has now added the Pin It button to more platforms, including Tumblr, Blogger, WordPress.org, and Wix. The Pin It button is how Pinners save things they find while searching on the web. The tool helps businesses get their products and services on Pinterest. This new integration will make adding the Pin It button to your site much easier than before. Tumblr can add the Pin It button or the hovering Pin It button to your Tumblr blog. Blogger has added the Pin It button as a default sharing button. This button automatically picks the first image in the post, sets the descriptions to the format: “Blog title: blog post title”, and will set the URL to the permalink of your blog post.  WordPress.org can simply install the Pinterest plug-in button of choice. Lastly, Wix Pin It button is now native to Wix page editor. The Pin It button will create a Pin from the image and description specified, and link back to the page you are on when you click the button. Visit the help center for instructions on each of these platforms.  Source

Facebook enlarges sidebar advertisements

Facebook announced Wednesday that it will be making sidebar ads bigger to resolve the decline in value of right sidebar advertising.  The enlarged sidebar images will use the same proportions as desktop News Feed ads, along with displaying fewer ads within the sidebar.  Facebook hopes the new distribution will offer a better ad experience on Facebook. In earlier tests, Facebook saw increased engagement, up to three times more, than previous to the new design.  The new image size will allow advertisers to choose the same image for the News Feed and right-hand column placements. Source

Facebook tests clearer prompts for privacy settings

Facebook is beta-testing clearer calls to action and options on desktop and mobile to let users know with whom they are sharing content. On the iOS app, Facebook will show the group that you are sharing with, directly above the status update. Facebook will also be changing the privacy drop-down box on desktops, clearly defining what each group means. Source
