While talking with a friend of mine, we started to have one of the most random conversations of my life revolving around the question: do you roll your toilet paper over or under?
My friend and I were in total agreement that we roll under. I’m a little embarassed to say that we then took the next ten minutes discussing the debate and why rolling under was clearly the best way. We even tried thinking of other products that roll under; window shades, receipt paper, wrapping paper, etc.
Later that day, we were informed of the Cottonelle Roll Poll 2010. I went to the site, and to our surprise at the time, a whopping 83% of respondents to the poll had said they roll over! We were stunnded.
Putting the debate aside, Cottonelle executed great marketing by creating the Roll Poll. Rollers around the country are conversing whether they roll over or under; great viral marketing. The poll’s site is really creative and allows lots of interaction with its polling respondents.
