It isn’t often in life when less than 90 seconds of your time and not one cent from your wallet can make a difference in hundreds of local kids’ lives and net you a chance to win an iPad. Southern Connecticut Hebrew Academy is offering this rare opportunity.
The SCHA is one of thousands of non-profit schools competing in Kohl’s Cares, a contest sponsored by the department store, along with Facebook, that pays out a total of 10 million dollars to 20 non-profit schools in America. How do they determine the winner? This is where you come in. The winner is determined by votes, and SCHA needs your votes.
SCHA is the only school in Connecticut in the top 100 and luckily for them, they only need to crack the top 20 to receive a healthy portion of the cash prize. 500K is given out to each school in the top 20, and SCHA is currently on the outside looking in. Hopefully, with your help, they won’t be there for long.
If you do choose to support the cause, you can qualify yourself to receive a free iPad. In order to qualify, you must vote the maximum number (5) of times, and fill out a form to enter the raffle.
500k could go a long way towards making at difference at SCHA. Although the students and faculty do all they can to create an environment conducive to learning, often times this proves difficult due to the condition of the facilities. To say that SCHA could use a few upgrades would be an understatement. In the past they have experienced their fair share of water damage, and in order to protect themselves against future complications they will need some funds to upgrade their roof. SCHA also suffers during the winter, and is in need of more funds to combat the harsh December freeze. SCHA would also like to use some of the money to expand their arts program, and technology lab, as well as place smart boards in all of the classrooms.
