“The Social Network” is Golden!

Last night at the Golden Globes, Movies and TV shows were nominated to win some prestigious awards. Among the contenders was “The Social Network”. This movie, based on Facebook, and its creator, Mark Zuckerberg, took away four major awards. This movie won Best Score, Best Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture, Drama. The winners were chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press. Many people seem to be happy with their choice of winners, but others believe some movies were cheated out of winning. However, the Academy Awards are around the corner where these movies and shows will have a second chance.

Surely a main reason “The Social Network” won four awards is because of its popularity and worldwide presence. Facebook is used by hundreds of millions of people all over the world. So, naturally, when a movie is made about something that upwards of millions of people use, it’s bound to be successful. “The Social Network” takes the viewer into the life of Mark Zuckerberg before the Facebook craze, his rise to the top, and all of the drama that came with it. This movie not only increased the awareness of Facebook, but social media overall. Facebook is continuing to grow and expand as it delves into the world of Media. Social Media is here to stay.
