Mantra Monday’s

Mantra was originally a form of writing sacred hymns to be sung by the Hindu priests. They were meant to promote well-being and spread positivity to each other and to the Hindu gods, which comes from the meaning of the word “Mantra.” In Sanskrit, the word breaks into two parts: “Man” means “think” or “thought”, and “tra” means “tool” or “instrument.”  A mantra is simply a tool that delivers a thought, and the priests would deliver them through calming hymns that brought out inner energy and aided in the meditation process. The most famous hymn in Mantra, and the one you’ve definitely heard, is “Om,” which means acknowledging the powerful connection between all human beings. These hymns and many others would be repeated simultaneously to help put people in more relaxed state and clear your mind of any negativity while meditating.

We all know that the idea of Mantras has morphed into our own personal space.  Instead of creating a sacred hymn to chant people have created their own Personal Mantras. So, we asked each member of our team to create their own personal mantra.  We encouraged the team to think about the mottos they live by, their lifestyle, their goals, and how they want others to see them, then formulate that idea into a positive statement that could be shared with our agency.

We found that these Mantras are so positive and provide so much great insight into each of us at Response that we just couldn’t keep them to ourselves. So, we are going to spread our unique expression each week on our new social project, “Mantra Monday.” Each Monday, we will showcase a Mantra from a Response team member and a little background on what it means to them and why they chose it to represent their self, until we go through the entire team. Tune into our social channels every Monday to learn more about the team and get a little Monday inspiration!

TEAM MANTRA FOR MONDAY, 8/27: JULIA NUARA

Julia Nuara is our Senior Account Manager here at Response.

Julia’s Mantra is “Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.” It’s a rally cry that helps her adjust on the fly and tackle the different challenges that every day throws her way. When things get tough, Julia keeps going.

TEAM MANTRA FOR MONDAY, 9/10: CAROLYN WALKER

Carolyn Walker is our CEO here at Response.

Carolyn’s Mantra is about Seeking, Striving, and being Vulnerable. Since her numerous history classes at Northeastern, Carolyn was always seeking and wanted to learn more, because any new knowledge can only help. She has always strived to improve on any aspect in her life, whether it be work, friends, family, or herself, because you can always take it a step further. Lastly, she puts all her mind as well as all her heart into everything she does.

TEAM MANTRA FOR MONDAY, 9/17: STEVE BADOWSKI

Steve Badowski is our VP of the Creative team here at Response.

Steve’s Mantra is “Keep Chipping Away”. He imagines that in life, you always have a basic foundation of a project to begin. With big and small tools, Steve chops the big parts away first, and then uses the small tools for the intricate detail. Steve also feels that his way of improving on a project is just the removal of what’s not needed, making it finer and more detailed on what’s important.

TEAM MANTRA FOR MONDAY, 10/1: TANYA KANNER

Tanya Kanner is an Art Director here at Response.

Tanya’s Mantra is “Hustle & Heart”. What that means to her is: dream big, work hard, love it, and then repeat. Be willing to work to reach your dreams, and bring heart to everything that you do. It’s that combination that makes anything possible.

TEAM MANTRA FOR MONDAY, 10/15: CHRIS MELILLO

Chris Melillo is a Web Developer here at Response.

Chris’ Mantra is “Make Lemonade”. When life gives Chris lemons, he doesn’t know what to always expect, but will always make the best of what he gets. Especially in the creative field, Chris can take these concepts to the next level.

TEAM MANTRA FOR MONDAY, 10/22: KIM DEMARTINO

Kim DeMartino is our VP of Account Services.

Kim’s mantra is “Peacemaker & Pleaser.” Kim is a natural problem solver and as a mother of two sons, this comes in handy. She also uses this mantra to stay steady in the face of always changing projects. Even when fires start or timelines shift, Kim makes sure our client’s needs are met.

TEAM MANTRA FOR MONDAY, 10/29: MATT DURAND

Matt Durand is our Senior Art Director.

Matts’ mantra is “Never Stop Trying to Improve.” Whether Matt is designing creative for our clients, perfecting panels in one of his original comic books, or teaching his students at Fairfield University — he strives to get better at it each and every day.

TEAM MANTRA FOR MONDAY, 11/5: JENNA COULSON

Jenna Coulson is our Social Media Manager.

Jenna’s mantra is “Stay Gold.” Inspired by an Adventure Club song, this mantra reminds Jenna that even when “words are like bullets” and life isn’t easy — stay gold. Stay positive. Stay yourself, without apologies. Jenna’s upbeat energy and attitude are a big part of our agency’s culture.

TEAM MANTRA FOR MONDAY, 11/12: CHRIS ROLLINS

Chris Rollins is a Digital Media Designer.

Chris’ mantra is “Boldly Elevating Human Experiences.” Chris is a man of many interests and talents, but each creates something memorable. So whether it’s an animation for one of our clients, a party thrown by his promotional company, or how someone feels when they slip on something from his clothing line, Chris makes sure it’s unforgettable.

TEAM MANTRA FOR MONDAY, 11/19: DAVID KLINEBERG

David Klineberg is our President & Partner at Response.

David’s mantra is “Your Secret Weapon.” David doesn’t run his mouth, but it doesn’t mean he has nothing to say. His mantra is a reminder that it’s okay to be unassuming and that great listening helps our team and clients more than just being the loudest voice. David’s thoughtful, strategic direction make him our agency’s (not so) secret weapon.

TEAM MANTRA FOR MONDAY, 11/26: MARC BROAD

Marc Broad is our VP of Digital here at Response.

Marc’s mantra is “Feel the Fear. And do it anyway.” We all can relate to feeling fear when a challenging project comes across our desk. Marc’s mantra reminds him not to run from that fear, after all it can sharpen your thinking. But fear never stands in Marc’s way or stops him from approaching a problem with the most creative technological solution.
